Apr.4 Parade and DVD/Book Launch a Success!

April 4, 2009 witnessed two great events. The first was a re-enactment of the 1959 victory parade down Front Street in Belleville. Snow did not deter avid fans, young and old, from coming out to pay tribute to former players. They rode in classic convertible cars of the era, and congregated at the Memorial Arena, followed by crowds of onlookers.

A scheduled opening of 7pm. at the Empire Theatre had to be moved up to 6:30pm because so many fans were lined up waiting to get in to see the DVD screening. The audience was estimated at approximately 400! No one was disappointed with the outstanding professional quality of the DVD production or the book. Peter Lockyer and Aaron Bell can be proud of what they accomplished in such a short time frame! The audience also responded enthusiastically at several points throughout the documentary.

After the screening former players and fans jammed the Belleville Club for continuing fellowship and reminiscences.

Sunday saw a brunch hosted at the Belleville Club for the former players and their families before those from out of town headed on their way.

Many thanks to the staff of the Empire Theatre for all their assistance in helping us to pull off such a memorable occasion.

And last but certainly not least, a great big cheer for James Hurst who did such an outstanding job of hosting events at the Belleville Club for the distinguished guests of honour!
